Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, provide customer service, assist with the coordination and scheduling of programs, activities, facility use, and special events as well as assist in the efficient office operation.

General Duties

Perform general office work such as word processing, filing, scheduling meetings, processing registrations, refunds and transfers, maintaining records, generating reports, greeting visitors, answering questions by phone, email and in person, proofreading, following financial procedures, problem solving, and providing department specific information.

Planing and coordination of programs, classes and activities with instructors, schedules, locations, invoices, enrollment, issuing receipts and tracking success rates.

Assist in the planning, organizing and implementing of special events.

Assist in the development, design and coordination of production and distribution of publications including but not limited to brochures, flyers, postcards, programs, signs, certificates, website, etc.

Report to work on time and maintain consistent and predictable attendance.

Maintain an acceptable appearance at all time, as to both attire and personal hygiene.

Attend all assigned meetings and trainings and inform supervisors of suggestions or ideas that could better the City's operations.

Enforce safety policies and procedures.

Maintain equipment and report problems to supervisor.

Inform supervisor of items needing special attention and communicate with staff.

Assist in the development of goals and objectives.

Other duties as may be required or assigned.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Completion of Associate's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Public Relations, or similar discipline.

One (1) year work experience in recreation, physical education, cultural arts, event planning, sports management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Public Relations, or similar discipline.

Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small office environment with frequent interruptions.

Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign and/or Photoshop, Recreation Management software, etc.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Exhibit strong customer service skills.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, think creatively, develop, plan and produce written materials in a variety of formats.

Model appropriate behavior, display enthusiasm and accountability to others.

Other Desirable Attributes

Previous customer service experience.

Certified in American Red Cross or equivalent CPR/AED (may be obtained through the City after employment)

Certified in American Red Cross or equivalent First Aid (may be obtained through the City after employment)
