Purchasing Agent

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Purchasing Agent to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Reading, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will oversee the procurement of complex goods and services while ensuring compliance with established regulations and procedures. Your expertise in contract management and vendor evaluation will be essential to maintaining cost-effective and high-quality operations.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze vendor bids and proposals to provide recommendations for awarding contracts through public bidding processes.

• Manage the procurement of technical and complex goods and services in alignment with regulatory guidelines.

• Collaborate with the Director and Managers to provide guidance and training to Buyers, enhancing departmental expertise.

• Review sole source requests and evaluate opportunities to identify alternative suppliers.

• Lead negotiations for contract terms, renewals, and agreements to secure optimal outcomes.

• Administer and monitor contracts to ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards.

• Develop cost-saving strategies by seeking competitive price quotes and exploring alternative supplier options.

• Ensure accurate documentation and preparation for procurement activities and contract administration.

• Maintain strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders to support effective purchasing operations.

• Monitor purchasing activities to align with departmental goals and customer needs.• Proven experience in purchasing functions, including procurement and vendor management.

• Strong knowledge of contract administration, negotiation, and management.

• Familiarity with government and legal contracts.

• Ability to analyze bids and proposals to make informed recommendations.

• Demonstrated ability to train and guide team members in purchasing activities.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with vendors and internal teams.

• Proficiency in identifying cost-saving strategies and alternative supplier options.
