Java Developer IV (Hybrid onsite in Madison WI)

Our client located in the Madison, WI area is looking for a Java Developer to join their team on a long-term contract basis. This role will work onsite in Madison, WI in a hybrid model.

This position’s primary role will be to contribute to a range of engineering projects that may include cloud-based initiatives, migrations, and GIS-related work. The selected professional will serve in a senior technical and leadership capacity, supporting the design, modernization, development, and maintenance of applications. This role requires hands-on expertise and collaboration with cross-functional teams using modern development practices.

Other responsibilities will include:

Design, develop, enhance, and modernize applications.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

Contribute to and guide application modernization strategies (e.g., Java upgrades, cloud/container migration, CI/CD pipelines).

Develop and implement robust testing methodologies and integrate them into automated build processes.

Collaborate on presentation layer development using JavaScript/TypeScript technologies (e.g., Angular).

Support the transition to a microservices architecture using industry standards and best practices.

The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:

Multiple years of professional experience as a full stack developer working with Java/J2EE and Spring Framework (including Spring Boot) as well as Angular

SQL and relational database experience

Agile and hybrid project methodologies

Oracle and PL/SQL

Microservices architecture

API development

Software architecture and design

Experience with Java 21, Maven, and IntelliJ

Familiarity with modernization strategies (e.g., lift-and-shift, strangler pattern)

Automated testing practices

DevSecOps experience, including tools like SonarQube is a plus

AWS cloud development

Experience with Liberty is a plus

Codeworks, LLC discloses that the anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $52/hr and $58/hr. This range is subject to change based on job-related factors, including client requirements where applicable.
