Remote Call Center Benefits Verification Specialist (BVS)
Location: Remote ️ Start Date: October 15, 2025
Pay Rate: $19.50/hr. Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
Shift 1 - BYOD - 8.30 to 5.30 EST
2nd shift - 11.30 am to 8.30 pm EST

In this remote call center position, you'll play a vital role in verifying insurance coverage and identifying access barriers, all while delivering an excellent customer experience.
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of an Operations Manager, the Benefits Verification Specialist contacts insurance companies to verify patient-specific benefits for healthcare programs we support. This role requires strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a high level of professionalism.
You'll ask the right questions, document precise benefit details, and play a key role in supporting patient access to care.
️ Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Review all patient insurance information needed to complete the benefit verification process
Triage cases with missing information to the appropriate program associate
Verify patient-specific insurance benefits and document details accurately for various payer plans, including coverage, cost share, and provider options
Identify restrictions or special requirements and advise on how to expedite patient access
Document and initiate prior authorization processes, claims appeals, and related items as required
Perform quality review of benefit verification work to ensure accuracy and completeness
Report reimbursement trends or delays (e.g., denials, access issues) to management
Participate in special projects and perform related duties as assigned
Experience & Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Broad training in relevant fields such as business administration, accounting, computer science, medical billing/coding, customer service, or related vocations
Minimum of 2+ years of directly related and progressively responsible experience
A two-year degree may be used in lieu of the experience requirement
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Required:
Proficiency in Windows-based environments and data entry/typing fundamentals
Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
Ability to work independently, solve problems, and apply sound judgment
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication
Familiarity with insurance benefit verification (preferred)
Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments and processes
Strong background in customer service

BYOD Requirements:
Windows OS laptop or desktop (no tablets or Apple products)
External mouse (required)
External keyboard (optional)
At least two total screens (one laptop screen and one external monitor)
Must be hardwired to your modem via Ethernet cable

Sedentary physical activity requiring reaching, sitting, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, and repetitive motions
Regular talking and hearing to interact with patients and providers
Visual demands include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
75% or more of the workday is spent looking directly at a computer
Must be able to manage stressful situations with professionalism and calm
