Freelance Commissioning Engineer – Logistics Automation Systems
Duration: Approx. 4–6 weeks per project
Engagement: Freelance / Contract
Location: On-site at project sites across Europe (to be confirmed)
Role Overview:
Join fast-paced, field-based projects commissioning advanced logistics automation systems—such as conveyors, sorters, and automated storage—in warehouses, parcel hubs, or airports. You’ll work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, and software systems to ensure full operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute complete on-site commissioning of logistics automation systems, including:
Mechanical alignment and hardware verification of conveyors, sorters, shuttles, or baggage handling equipment.
Electrical I/O checks, safety circuit validation, and component-level testing.
PLC setup, software adjustments, and functional system validation (primarily Siemens or Rockwell).
Participate in system ramp-up, error analysis, and fine-tuning of parameters to achieve performance targets.
Conduct sensor calibration, motor and drive configuration, and ensure full system readiness for operational go live.
Generate detailed commissioning documentation (punch lists, test reports, and handover packages).
Collaborate with project leaders, software teams, and installation contractors on-site to resolve technical challenges quickly and efficiently.
Support FAT/SAT procedures and liaise with client-side stakeholders during acceptance testing.

Automated baggage handling in airports
High-density warehouse storage and shuttle systems
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years commissioning experience in logistics/material handling automation
Strong mechanical, electrical, and PLC system knowledge
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Comfortable working independently under pressure on-site
Preferred:
Experience with industrial fieldbuses (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP)
Familiarity with parcel sortation, baggage handling, or AS/RS commissioning
FAT/SAT testing experience
Willingness to travel and work full-time on-site
English required; German or other European languages a plus
