POSITION OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Installer Mechanic Lead to join the fast-growing Comfortrol Team. The ideal candidate brings a can-do attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a high level of customer service. This is a lead role responsible for high-quality HVAC installations on commercial construction and tenant improvement projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in new commercial construction and tenant office spaces
Independently perform HVAC system installations, including ductwork, units, and controls
Wire all basic low-voltage HVAC components: furnaces, A/C units, thermostats, and zone controls
Fabricate duct fittings and lay out complete jobs with minimal supervision
Read and interpret blueprints to accurately install systems per project specifications
Complete daily paperwork, including material usage and job-specific documentation, in a timely and accurate manner
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure all HVAC installations meet or exceed company quality standards, code requirements, and manufacturer specifications
Uphold and enforce all safety protocols and procedures, including conducting job site safety checks and reporting any incidents or hazards
Provide guidance and on-the-job training to apprentices and less experienced installers, ensuring a culture of continuous learning
ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT
This position reports to the local Service Manager.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of experience as a commercial HVAC installer
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to read instructions, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
OSHA 10 preferred, or willing to obtain once hired
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all required tools and equipment
Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts as needed
Ability to frequently lift 75 lbs. and regularly carry items up to 50 lbs.
Physical ability to work in tight spaces, at heights, and in varying temperature conditions
BEHAVIORAL PROFILE
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to write clear job-related documentation and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals. Able to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret graphs when needed.
Reasoning Ability
Applies common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, and diagram-based instructions. Capable of solving routine problems and prioritizing multiple tasks in real time.
Physical Demands
While performing duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to operate tools and equipment. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling are expected. Regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds is required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
