Job Summary
GEOTEK, a market leader in high-performance, engineered composite structural solutions, is looking for a high-potential, highly motivated engineer to join our team. The Sr. Composite Process Engineer is responsible for leading engineering projects to support continuous optimization of the composite manufacturing process. Leveraging department composite expertise, the Sr. Composite Process Engineer will foster continuous improvement and increased productivity as Geotek continues to grow. They are capable of working from a vision, from which they can independently develop actionable tasks and projects. Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership
Provide leadership in the development of composite manufacturing capabilities for new filament wound products; process development, equipment/tooling design, continuous improvement, operations support, etc.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with peers and leaders across the organization
Align with operations team by maintaining open and frequent communication with manager and supervisors
Work cross functionality to provide process engineering support of composite production quality, equipment readiness, new product development, and cost reduction/supply chain risk mitigation, as directed
Provide support and coaching to other composite manufacturing engineering team members
Ownership of assigned engineering responsibilities of the composite manufacturing processes; primarily filament winding
Project management
Scope and manage engineering projects that support and improve safety, quality, and productivity in the composite manufacturing department
Be effective in developing a project plan based on a desired outcome, independently creating milestones and schedule and delegating tasks as necessary
Production support
Provide guidance and training to the composite production operations teams for quick and accurate root cause investigation and resolution of composite manufacturing issues
Develop and own short-term and long-term composite production improvement initiatives and non-conformation mitigation plans
Develop and maintain operations focused composite manufacturing work instructions and troubleshooting guides
Continuous improvement
Research, propose, and own implementation of capital expenditure projects, including new production tooling and composite manufacturing equipment
Utilize GEOTEK's test laboratory equipment to optimize composite design for performance and manufacturability
Challenge current operating procedures and identify and propose new equipment, technologies, and processes to promote safety, quality, and productivity
Document composite processing and equipment/tooling design best practices
Organization
Maintain clear documentation of operating standards and processes to support training and technical assistance to the operations team
Maintain clear, complete, and accurate records for project documentation for future reference
Maintain and promote a clean and organized workspace
Job Requirements
Four year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, composite, or chemical preferred)
5-10 years of professional experience working in a continuous processing manufacturing environment, with recent composites/filament winding/pultrusion experience strongly preferred
Must be an energetic and hands-on problem solver, self-motivated, self-starting, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
Capable of working from a vision, from which they can independently develop actionable tasks and projects
Professional and concise communication and verbal skills are essential
Familiarity with common thermoset resin systems, including polyester, vinyl-ester, and urethane is highly desirable. Familiarity with common manufacturing tooling design and development is desirable
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) is essential
Ability to work with different levels of staff, from line workers to executives, is highly desirable
Experience with 3D modeling using SolidWorks of parts, assemblies, and drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5; Formal GD&T training is desirable
Experience with MS Office
Detail oriented and organized to ensure accuracy and quality
Ability to lead the support of occasional off-shift trials and production support requests, as required
Must be able to stand, lift, use manual tools, and power tools
Must adhere to all corporate policies and procedures
Must remain flexible as priorities changes Physical Work Conditions
Time should be split between the floor and the office or meeting rooms ranging anywhere from 25% to 75% on the production floor or engineering labs. While working on the floor there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals. Office work requires sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
The compensation range for this position is $94,536 - $134,000. Final offers may vary based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The posted range represents the expected earning potential for this position within the current organizational budget and market conditions
