Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Job Functions
Point of contact for all information systems issues for practice sites, providing support for the company on the following:
Maintains and troubleshoots performance of all practice software including practice management systems and electronic medical records.
Maintains and supports performance of all practice hardware including servers, computers, copiers, scanners, and printers.
Maintains and troubleshoots connectivity with data and phone lines including connectivity hardware and interfaces with telecommunications vendors.
Addresses and completes IT tickets and triages when necessary, including providing hardware and software licenses.
Reports issues that cannot be resolved internally to hardware, software, and telecom support.
Performs system and user access/security assessments as needed.
Processes requests for addition/termination of staff user access, information system training, handle password changes, and unlocks/locks user accounts as needed.
Manage and enforce information security derivatives within regulatory mandates to protect PHI including HIPAA and The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Trains and coordinates training for medical office staff and physicians on the use of the practice management system and coordinates training for electronic medical records.
Supports information security awareness and training initiatives to educate workforce about policies, procedures, and risks.
Travel to various practice sites as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough understanding of computer software and hardware, including desktop computers, laptops, network devices, and peripherals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of health information systems, concepts, and procedures
Thorough understanding of IS principles, programs, policies, activities, and procedures.
Strong technical background with experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work.
Ability to explain technical problems and offer solutions to those without technological training.
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision. Credentials and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have at least 2-3 years' experience working in with medical records/health information (office, clinical, or hospital)
Security Certification or special training/education in information systems and software preferred.
MS Office Products (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
Fluent in English Physical Demands
Must be able to sit (frequent), stand (frequent), walk (frequent), stoop (frequent), bend over (frequent) and type on keyboard (frequent)
Ability to communicate in person and by phone (frequent)
Physical ability to retrieve and file records in a (6-7 shelf) file cabinet (occasional)
Must be able to independently lift 25 lbs. (occasional) Work Environment
Office environment with travel between locations required
