BASIC PURPOSE AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITY
You will report to the Director of Engineering. Is responsible for testing, evaluating, verifying, and reporting compliance with product definitions, desired specifications, feature sets, and operation of vendor products and factory products. Write technical documentation for Engineering, Product Planning, Technical Support, and the Tuning Department. Assist in laboratory and field problem investigations as well as solution testing and validation. Provides special support to JVCKENWOOD USA technical staff, sales channels, and end-users beyond routine technical support. Includes varying degrees of travel.
MAJOR DUTIES
Breadboard, prototype, modify, cable, test, and document standard or special interfaces.
Source and purchase equipment, supplies, and parts for engineering and major duties.
Write instruction sheets, manuals, application notes, tuning, and service procedures.
Support and train product manager, engineering, technical support, tuning department, sales, dealers, end-users, and vendors.
Evaluates competitive products for planning, design engineering, and sales/marketing information purposes.
Primarily involved in Land Mobile projects with occasional involvement in amateur radio projects. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Associate degree in relevant discipline or equivalent work experience, installation and troubleshooting experience of Land Mobile public safety and business radio equipment and systems, with thorough knowledge of contemporary FM analog radio circuitry in all Land Mobile frequency bands.
Must have experience in tone and D.C. remote control, trunking logic controllers, conventional repeater controllers, CAD systems and consoles, GPS / Automatic Vehicle Location equipment and systems is desirable.
Must have experience interfacing tone signaling, digital ANI encoder/decoders, and voice encryption boards, and peripheral equipment.
Must have experience in performing technical analysis, reporting, documenting, writing technical procedures, bulletins, instruction sheets, manuals, and application notes.
Must have a firm understanding of TCP/IP Networks and supporting protocols to include (but not limited to) OSPF, Unicast, Multicast, and SIP
Experience in mobile data systems such as mobile data terminals, mobile personal computers, and applications software, radio modems, mobile data peripheral equipment, repeater data controllers, and host system interfaces is desirable.
Associate of Science Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience required.
An amateur radio License is desirable. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Director of Engineering.
Interacts with engineering staff, product manager, technical support staff, and service training staff, tuning department, parts department, dealers, end-users, manufacturer representatives, suppliers, and vendors. PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to professionally relate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.
Ability to solve complex interfacing problems and anticipate interaction of products under various RF, environmental, operational, and usage conditions.
Ability to recognize and solve concerns with parts, technical support, continual maintenance, mass production, practicality, reliability, and durability of the interfaces and modifications developed, and products evaluated. WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a general office environment, R&D lab, and in the field.
Duties and responsibilities performed normally do not include special physical requirements.
Some lifting and bending required.
Occasional automobile and air travel required, domestic and overseas.
