Assistant or Associate Professor in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiologist)

Job Summary

The Assistant/Associate Professor in Diagnostic Imaging (Veterinary Radiology) is primarily responsible for responsible for directing the diagnostic imaging services in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and participate in classroom and laboratory clinical instruction. Must have a commitment to the University's tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service.

Essential Job Duties

Participate in classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction for veterinary students, graduate students, and interns.

Participate in classroom instruction with a focus on Diagnostic Imaging.

Coordinate, develop a syllabus, and teach Diagnostic imaging courses.

Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging studies in both small and large animal radiology.

Collaborate with VTH clinicians to develop accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.

Provide detailed radiographic reports in the VTH and consultations to referral veterinarians.

Educate and train veterinary staff and students in radiographic procedures and interpretation.

Operate and maintain sophisticated imaging equipment.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations concerning radiological procedures.

Stay updated with the latest advancements in veterinary imaging techniques.

Participate in clinical research to advance veterinary radiology independently or collaboratively, apply for external grant funding, and guide graduate and/or professional student research.

Must demonstrate creative scholarship and collaborative activities.

Participation on College and University committees.

All other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.

Board certification or eligibility with the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACV R) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI).

Experience with digital imaging software (e.g., PACS, RIS) and teleradiology platforms.

Experience in a specialty or referral hospital setting Physical Demands

Skills and Attributes

Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional and three-dimensional imaging techniques.

Thorough understanding of diagnostic imaging principles and practices.

Proficiency in the use of diagnostic imaging equipment.

Ability to produce and interpret high-quality radiographic images.

Familiarity with sedation and patient handling during imaging procedures.

Interest in teaching or academic involvement (for university-affiliated roles)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; organizational skills, time-management skills, and detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with others in a collegial diverse team environment.
