The Endpoint Engineer (Apple/macOS focus) is responsible for the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of operating systems and applications primarily within the Apple ecosystem. This role, as part of the OTDI Endpoint – Learning Environments team, supports technology deployments in classrooms, computer labs, and conference rooms, serving as a subject matter expert and providing guidance on related initiatives. The position ensures secure system configurations through the use of security tools and regular patching, while maintaining strong communication with Desktop Support personnel and campus partners to implement updates and configuration changes effectively. Additionally, the Endpoint Engineer contributes to the development and implementation of enhanced classroom technologies and plays a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Ohio State’s shared computing resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Device Operating System Imaging: Develops and deploys operating system images/configurations for macOS/iOS and Windows systems.
Application packaging/deployment: Prepares, tests and oversees the delivery of software applications to supported systems, including patches and the remediation of security vulnerabilities.
Patching/Security: Establishes a secure system environment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Works directly with desktop support teams and customers to understand their needs and provide information on new technologies and solutions; builds productive working relationships with peers across the university and IT industry to facilitate the support process.
Emerging Technology Integration: Evaluates and provides recommendations on the implementation of new technologies in classroom, lab and conference room environments.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; 2 years of experience with a proven record of exceptional customer service in a technical environment
Experience with Apple macOS/iOS and Microsoft Windows client operating systems
Knowledge of enterprise services such as JAMF, Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS
Experience with the JAMF Solution Suite or other client management systems
Experience managing macOS workstations in an enterprise environment
Experience managing Windows workstations in an enterprise environment
Desired Education and Experience:
Bachelor's level degree with a major in computer & information science; More than 2 years of relevant experience
Certifications: ITIL Foundations; CompTIA A+; CompTIA Network+; JAMF 100/200; Microsoft MCSA/MCSE/MCA
Experience with software packaging and deployment
Experience developing, testing and deploying desktop software images
Knowledge of scripting languages and technologies (VBScri pt, Powershell, UNIX shell scripts)

Additional Information:
The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $64,900 to $74,875.
