In particular, the company is known for its production of its high-quality ‘Fast Tread’ stairs and other prefabricated formwork systems, which now feature in over 1,000 buildings, including many landmark ones, across Australia and internationally.
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Sheet Metal Worker to join FTI Group. The role is classified under ANZSCO 322211 – Sheetmetal Trades Worker, making it suitable for both local and visa-sponsored applicants.
Essential part of the role.
It is a factory-based role, which means stable and reliable hours, a close-knit team who you’ll become integrated with, and no travel for their Sheet Metal Workers, but also means that a strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and reliability are musts.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
1.Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and mechanical systems in heavy vehicles, plant equipment, and machinery.
2.Dismantle, reassemble, and overhaul engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems to manufacturer specifications.
3.Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs on a variety of fleet and heavy equipment.
4.Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot faults and ensure quality repairs.
5.Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and workspaces in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition.
6.Fabricate and modify parts as required using workshop machinery and tools.
7. Collaborate with workshop supervisors, parts interpreters, and other technicians to ensure timely job completion.
8.Complete detailed job cards, maintenance logs, and service reports accurately and on time.
9.Adhere to all safety procedures and ensure compliance with RGM Maintenance’s health and safety standards.
10.Participate in ongoing training and upskilling to keep up to date with advancements in diesel technology and equipment.
Required Skills and Experience:
1.Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting) or Diesel Fitting, or equivalent qualification.
2.Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Fitter (General) or Diesel Fitter, preferably with heavy vehicles or machinery.
3.Strong understanding of diesel engine operation, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
4.Proficiency in using workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
5.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and hydraulic schematics.
6.Sound knowledge of WHS regulations and safe work practices in mechanical workshop settings.
7.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in mechanical assembly and repairs.
8.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
9.Current driver’s licence (HR or HC licence desirable).
10.Experience working on trucks, trailers, and plant equipment will be highly regarded.
