The Nursing Tutor is responsible for one-on-one and small group instruction with students enrolled in Nursing classes. The Professional Tutor exhibits patience and a positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment. The Professional Tutor possesses good organizational skills and be able to explain concepts to others effectively.

This is an hourly, part-time position
Qualifications:
Educational Background: A.S. in Nursing required, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: One-year experience in teaching/tutoring at high school or college level preferred, with knowledge of subject matter being tutored.
2. General Functions:
The Specialized Professional Tutor is responsible for one-on-one and small group support for student learning. Tutors will exhibit patience and a positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment. Nursing Tutors combine clinical experience with academic expertise.
3. Essential Functions:
Demonstrates knowledge and competence in subject matter of specialty area.
Provides direct assistance to students individually or in small groups.
Supports students to develop and meet their academic goals.
Tutors according to the techniques presented in student classes.
Provides explanations, clarifies concepts, and demonstrates problem-solving strategies.
Works comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds.
Collaborates with immediate supervisor regarding tutoring best practices.
Participates in tutor training and development sessions as required.
Maintains and record student and usage records as needed.
Updates tutoring materials including workshop development as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay rate: $32/hour
