Controller – Remote (Occasional On-Site in Essex, CT)
$100,000 – $120,000/year Full-Time Direct Hire
Join a dynamic and growing team as a Controller, where you’ll lead all aspects of the accounting function for both U.S. and Canadian operations. This is a remote role with occasional on-site work required in Essex, CT.
We’re looking for a detail-driven accounting professional with QuickBooks expertise, strong reconciliation skills, and a solid understanding of multi-entity, multi-currency environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting for U.S. and Canadian entities using QuickBooks Desktop and Online
Prepare payment runs (checks, wires, ACHs, EFTs) and reconcile vendor, customer, and bank accounts
Perform intercompany reconciliations and maintain accurate records
Handle U.S. sales tax and Canadian GST/HST filings
Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
Manage insurance policies, renewals, and audit responses
Prepare financial statements and ad-hoc financial reports
Support tax preparation and filing processes
Collaborate on legal documentation for corporate restructuring
Resolve vendor and customer inquiries and discrepancies
Monitor annual reports and regulatory filings for multiple companies
Provide training to accounting staff as needed
Assist with additional accounting and administrative tasks across the group
Requirements
Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks (Desktop & Online) – U.S. and Canada
Experience in full-cycle accounting with multi-currency and high-volume transactions
Understanding of payroll processing, benefits, and year-end reconciliation
Extremely detail-oriented with strong accuracy and troubleshooting skills
Prior experience in retail operations highly preferred
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
