About the Role:
The Direct Service Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized support to individuals in need within the LaPlace community. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The role requires building trusting relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members to deliver comprehensive care. Direct Service Workers are responsible for implementing individualized care plans and adapting to changing client needs with empathy and professionalism. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to fostering a supportive environment that empowers clients to live with dignity and respect.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as required.
Must be able to read, interpret and perform client service plan requirements.
Basic knowledge of personal care and safety procedures.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in direct care or social services.
Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Training or coursework related to healthcare, social work, or human services.
Able to work in pet friendly environments (if needed).
Familiarity with local community resources and support services.
Responsibilities:
Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' social and mental well-being.
Monitor and document clients' health status and report any changes or concerns to supervisors or healthcare providers.
Support clients in participating in community activities and accessing necessary services.
Perform housekeeping duties to help maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for clients by following established protocols and safety guidelines.
Skills:
The required skills such as effective communication and interpersonal abilities are essential for building rapport and trust with clients, ensuring their comfort and cooperation during care activities. Attention to detail and observational skills are used daily to monitor clients' health and safety, enabling timely reporting of any concerns. Time management and organizational skills help in efficiently balancing multiple client needs and documentation requirements. Preferred skills like CPR and First Aid certification enhance the worker’s ability to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring client safety. Additionally, bilingual skills and knowledge of community resources improve service delivery by facilitating better communication and access to support systems.
