Working with our government client, Staffworks is looking to hire an experienced Sr. IT Audit Specialist for a 6-month contract position.

Location: Hybrid- Downtown Toronto (at least 3 days in office)

Position Type: Contract – 6 months

Pay Range - $70 - $80/hr

Senior IT Audit Specialist

Position Purpose

To plan, lead, and conduct information technology (IT) assurance, advisory, and consulting engagements to help organizations manage risks, resolve issues, and comply with relevant laws, policies, and standards. To provide strategic advice to decision-makers at all levels to support improvements in IT governance and the delivery of programs and services.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and perform IT audits, reviews, advisory engagements, and special investigations across various technology domains including governance, security, and system development.

Assess compliance of IT systems and processes against policies, standards, and control frameworks.

Prepare and present findings and risk mitigation recommendations to senior management.

Provide strategic advice on IT governance, risk management, and process improvement.

Support the development and enhancement of IT policies and standards.

Manage client relationships and facilitate action planning to resolve audit issues.

Develop and manage audit project plans, resources, and deliverables.

Lead audit teams and coordinate work with internal and external partners.

Conduct quality assurance and risk assessment sessions and identify best practices.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Extensive experience conducting IT audits, risk assessments, and consulting engagements.

Strong knowledge of IT governance, risk, and control frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ISO 27001).

Familiarity with auditing tools and techniques (e.g., CAATs, IDEA, ACL).

Strong understanding of IT security, systems development, service delivery, and infrastructure.

Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.

Proven ability to lead teams and manage stakeholder relationships.

SOC (System and Organization Controls) / SOC 2 certification would be considered an asset.
