Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, and we are recruiting an experienced Electrical Engineer with experience in Equipment Qualification to support a cutting-edge nuclear power organization focused on advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology.

This direct hire role will support a cutting-edge nuclear power organization focused on advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology. This role will play a critical part in ensuring safe, compliant, and innovative electrical system designs for nuclear energy applications. This position offers the ability to work fully remote with an estimated 5-10% travel throughout the United States. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Annual Base Salary: $135,000 - $145,000 + full benefits package

Position Summary:

In nuclear power, "Test/EQ" refers to Equipment Qualification, a critical process ensuring that safety-related equipment can reliably perform its intended functions under normal operating conditions and during design basis accidents. This process involves testing and analysis to demonstrate that components and systems can withstand the harsh environments and stresses experienced in a nuclear power plant throughout their qualified operating life.

Responsibilities:

Design and review electrical system work products, including single-line diagrams, system specifications, design descriptions, reports, and ITAAC documentation.

Coordinate electrical system design activities with internal teams and external subcontractors.

Reconcile regulatory codes and standards for both domestic and international projects.

Perform interdisciplinary and independent design reviews to ensure compliance with NRC regulations and project goals.

Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely execution of design deliverables.

Ensure quality assurance compliance, adhering to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 standards.

Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in the nuclear design engineering field.

Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Power Option Preferred).

Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial nuclear power design or systems engineering. (Up to 2 years of Naval Nuclear experience may apply toward this requirement.)

Solid understanding of U.S. codes and regulations (NRC, NEC, IEEE) related to electrical system design.

Strong technical writing, computer literacy, and communication skills.

Experience designing and installing AC/DC distribution and raceway systems.

Demonstrated ability to integrate NRC regulatory guidelines into system designs.

High level of organizational and analytical ability to manage complex, multi-phase projects.

Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Preferred experience:

Professional Engineer (PE) license or advanced technical degree.

Familiarity with Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and other electrical design software.

Experience working with or overseeing subcontractors in a regulated environment.
