Job Description

Elite Permits of Sarasota is looking for an Engineer to join our strong team. Our ideal candidate is some one who is experienced, a problem solver, and a team player.

SALARY: $80,00 to $130,000

THE POSITION

Review construction plans and perform specialty inspections as needed.

Uphold the core purpose of building codes: protecting lives and property.

Maintain our company values by providing the best service possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reads and understands blueprints and technical drawings.

Reviews plans and specifications of project.

Enforces all applicable provisions of the standard building codes as adopted and amended by local ordinances.

Travels to construction site locations and performs field inspections.

Reviews quality of installation of various components and systems to ensure proper installation and function.

Conducts structural steel and threshold inspections, to include observation and report drafting.

Oversees inspectors who conduct structural steel and/or threshold inspections, signing as the engineer.

Explains and interprets code provisions and local building regulations and requirements.

Provides direction when deficiencies or violations are discovered.

Reports noncompliance with appropriate codes; issues notice to hold construction as necessary.

Makes recommendations for issuance of certificates of occupancy.

Observes job site safety of projects contracted with Elite Permits.

Responds to questions, complaints, and requests for information/assistance from team staff and customers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Experience in: Structural steel, to include welding and bolting. Threshold buildings and fire penetrations.

Considerable Knowledge of: Standard office practices and procedures; Microsoft Office applications. Applicable building codes associated with the trade category license.

Ability to: Work independently and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently in a constantly changing and fast-paced environment.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsements and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive company-assigned vehicle.

Must possess and maintain a Professional Engineer License issued by the State of Florida, Department of Business and Professional Regulation. May be required to attain and maintain other certifications as related to this position.

Possess or ability to obtain a Certified Welding Inspector certification from the American Welding Society.Company Description
