We are searching for an experienced and certified, for must become certified within 1 year, Medical Assistant who possesses skills in phlebotomy to aid our provider at our Toney Family Health Center. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will care for and support our patient's medical needs. This will include ensuring proper documentation as required, perform intake on patients, and appropriately document their vitals, respond to messages and calls from patients and/or others. We prefer individuals that are interested in a full-time Monday through Friday work schedule.

We're looking for:

Certified, or will be required to become certified within 1 year, Medical Assistant in the State of Alabama with at least 2 years of experience in the field.

Ability to pass preliminary background screenings.

Understanding and knowledge of principles, techniques, and standards in a clinic setting.

Experience collecting vital signs.

Willingness to provide quality healthcare to all patients.

Ability to relate professionally and kindly to patients and others.

What you'll be doing:

Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs and record the information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR, preferably Athenahealth);

Assist physicians/nurse practitioners with examinations and procedures as needed;

Assist patients in understanding provider orders;

Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient interactions.

Administer medication, injections, phlebotomy and point of care testing needed for patient care;

Process patients referrals in a timely manner;

Observe all safety and security procedures by promoting a safe, pleasant work environment.

Assist patients with releases of information and other forms as needed;

Respond to all patient messages and document accordingly.

Other duties as assigned.
