Qualifications:
Preferred at least 2 years of experience as an advanced practice provider in the outpatient setting. Gastroenterology experience is desired but not required.
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
Current national certification as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
Current state license and registration.
Valid DEA license
Certified in BLS endorsed by the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities:
Conduct routine and urgent patient visits in a gastroenterology clinic setting, seeing both new and established patients.
Perform history and physical examinations on new and return patients, establish presumptive diagnoses, and order appropriate laboratory studies and tests.
Respond to nurse triage line tasks.
Perform prior authorizations and write letters of medical necessity.
Communicate effectively with patients and other care team members.
Follow up on test results and communicate with patients.
Provide necessary patient education.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
Consult with supervising physicians or colleagues for complicated cases or those outside the scope of practice.
Consider individuals’ cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors in creating treatment and care plans.
Perform other duties as assigned.
