Under the direction of the Independent Contractor Recruiting Manager, this position’s primary objective is to recruit and orient Independent Contractors and act as the steward for compliance of legal and ethical contracting practices, which results in the minimization of risk for legal challenges. This role ensures compliance of onboarding paperwork and databases, IC certifications, supports the Distribution Center in the ongoing maintenance of DOT and OSHA regulatory compliance requirements and possesses the intellectual capital to provide counsel and support to the Operations team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates all activities of Independent Contractors to meet recruitment, contracting, onboarding and orientation requirements across all locations, as required.
Assists in the development, implementation, and coordination of recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and certification programs and strategies for Independent Contractors.
Serves as a point of contact to solve Independent Contractor questions and/or concerns, along with their Operations team.
Effectively utilizes ATS to attract, develop, and disposition candidates.
Creates and implements social media/pipeline creation strategy focused on a specific market, to include daily communication with applicants on various communication platforms while using the disposition feature.
Conducts preliminary screens of Independent Contractor profiles utilizing ATS software, matching profiles to Requisition and Statement of Work, and updating all databases.
Coordinates and ensures compliance with all aspects of onboarding: MVR’s, uniforms, IC agreements, Statements of Work, drug screens, criminal background checks, and DOT medical exams.
Ensures initial DOT and CDL large truck regulatory compliance, truck log compliance, and DOT and OSHA IC certification based upon customer’s requirements.
Keeps IC records of BWC, MVR, driver’s license, insurance declaration pages and statements of work. Electronically file paperwork and updates the database.
Acts as a steward for IC’s to ensure DC and IC challenges are met with the utmost integrity.
Partners with Operations, acting as an IC partner advocate, to include IC retention and incentive programs.
Successfully passes all audits, maintains all legal records, and follows all retention guidelines.
Updates all systems to ensure appropriate tracking and workflow for IC’s.
May serve as Safety Champion and DOT Champion for the assigned city.
Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
At least one-year recruiting experience in a fast-paced environment.
Two to three years of transportation experience/background preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
· Working knowledge of labor law.
· Able to maintain composure under time constraints and deadlines.
