Lab Manager

Our agricultural client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Lab Manager who takes full ownership of lab operations. They’re seeking someone who ensures the lab runs efficiently, sets high standards for quality and safety, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. This is a leadership role for someone who not only double-checks results but empowers their team to do the same—with curiosity, accountability, and precision.

Compensation & Hours:
The rate of pay will be $20 - $30/hr. depending on experience
This is a full-time, temporary position with potential for permanency
Occasional night shifts, every 1-3 months
Monday – Friday
Position Summary:
Lead and oversee all day-to-day laboratory operations
Ensure compliance with safety standards, protocols, and quality benchmarks
Mentor and supervise lab staff; provide training and performance feedback
Oversee equipment calibration, inventory management, and lab cleanliness
Evaluate and optimize testing procedures and workflow
Analyze and interpret lab data, ensuring accuracy and consistency
Act as liaison between lab team, production, and upper management
Champion continuous improvement and identify opportunities for process enhancements
Contribute to the testing and validation of new products or experimental processes
Required Qualifications:
Proven leadership experience in a lab setting
Excellent communication and decision-making skills
Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities
High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, safety, and efficiency
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and lab data systems
Solid understanding of quality assurance standards in food/agriculture or related industries
Bonus Points For:
Post-secondary education; Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Agriculture, Microbiology, or related
Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., CFIA, FDA, HACCP, ISO)
