Position Summary
The Accounting Supervisor oversees the accounting department’s operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective management of financial resources. Will work closely with the VP of Finance on strategic initiatives about 20% of the time and spend rest of time in coordinating work and efforts on tactical department operations with the Controller.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and supervise day-to-day accounting operations – accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking transactions.
Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
Create and post monthly journal entries, reconcile subledgers to General Ledger.
Assist in development and documentation of SOPs
Work closely with the Controller and VP of Finance to support accounting and finance decisions and help resolve any issues affecting financial reporting.
Strategize and implement efficient procedures to expedite month-end close process, including the timely reconciliation of accounts and preparation of necessary reports.
Mentor and guide staff to improve accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness in all financial activities.
Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties at any time.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
3-5 yrs work experience as an Accountant
Associate’s degree in accounting
Leadership skills and supervisory experience of 3+ employees
Hands-on experience with accounting software like QuickBooks, Blackline, Sage, Oracle NetSuite
Strong MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP's and pivot tables
Experience with general ledger functions – account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close procedures
Highly organized, strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
