Secoma Operator, Roof Bolter SUFCO Mine

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for operating specialized bolting equipment to install critical roof and rib support systems in an underground coal mining environment.

This role is essential to maintaining structural integrity within the mine and ensuring the safety of all underground personnel.

The position requires strict adherence to the mine's approved Roof Control Plan, federal and state regulations, and company safety standards.

The Roof Bolter works as part of a production team to support efficient, safe, and continuous mining operations.nnRESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:nnOperate Secoma roof bolting equipment to drill and install roof bolts, plates, and mesh in accordance with prescribed patterns and safety standards.nPerform pre-operational and operational inspections on bolting equipment, reporting any mechanical issues or defects.nInstall roof supports as specified by the approved Roof Control Plan and supervisor direction.nMaintain proper documentation of support installations and assist in preparing reports for MSHA and internal compliance audits.nConduct visual inspections of roof and rib conditions and report any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.nAssist with scaling of loose material, setting supplemental supports, and other ground control tasks as required.nMaintain clean and organized work areas to support safe and efficient operations.nAdhere strictly to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures.nParticipate in regular safety meetings and training programs.nCommunicate clearly with other crew members, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to coordinate production and ensure continuous safe operations.nnnPREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:nnMinimum 1 year of underground coal mining experience.nProven experience operating Secoma or similar roof bolting machinery.nCurrent MSHA underground miner certification.nAbility to understand and apply the mine's Roof Control Plan.nPhysically fit to perform manual labor in confined spaces and in harsh underground environments.nnnPosition will report to: Production Manager
