The Program Specialist contributes to the success of the Offices of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry (UR&CI) and Service-Learning (S-L) by planning, promoting, coordinating, scheduling, and executing programs for UR&CI and S-L, with a focus on student engagement and support.

The role supports the scheduling, promotion, and execution of student-focused events across all colleges and regional campuses; provides individualized consultations for students on undergraduate research experiences, ensuring support throughout the educational cycle from entry to graduation; delivers information about undergraduate research and service-learning to current and prospective students through a variety of means including, designing group presentations aligned with unit goals and identified student needs, and individual emails and phone calls, utilizing Salesforce to track and manage individual interactions; coordinates with relevant units across the institution, including University Libraries, First-Year Experience, STEP, Honors & Scholars, and Advancement Events; conducts outreach and recruitment activities to raise awareness of UR&CI programs, including presentation events, workshops, and the Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP), with the goal to attract a group of participants representative of all Ohio State students; selects, trains, and supervises a team of paid student employee undergraduate research peer mentors to assist with outreach efforts.

Collaborates with the Office of Academic Enrichment marketing and communications teams to support UR&CI and S-L marketing and communication across multiple platforms, including serving as the primary author of the UR&CI monthly student newsletter and event-related student communications; leads administrative duties, primarily via Workday, related to student programming, such as the purchase of supplies and services and coordinating event vendors for signature events; contributes to program planning and design as appropriate; and works on special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail; organized and efficient while working on multiple overlapping projects and priorities. Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team. Proficiency with university systems and experience with MS Office programs, Workday, and Qualtrics. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

Desired:

Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Experience in a student-facing or customer service role. Participation in a mentored undergraduate research experience. Ability to give compelling and effective presentations to students. Experience with event planning and promotion. Ability to learn additional applications and programs as needed.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this position is $44,400 - $47,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
