Software Development Specialist 2 - PN

Schedule: Full-time

The Ohio Industrial Commission (OIC) is seeking a Software Development Specialist 2 (SDS-2) to perform full stack application development, maintenance, and support activities for software and systems that support the agency. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of web-based and desktop software development technologies such as Java, .Net, Angular, SQL, ORM. Candidate should be able to work as a contributing member of project teams and independently on production support issues as these arise.

What You'll Do:

Under general direction of the Information Technology Supervisor 3:

Develops software applications and performs analysis and design

Reads, writes, extracts and/or reports from compounded files and data stores

Works with business personnel to identify and document system requirements

Defines problems and develops potential solutions

performs post-production support for business applications which may include routine maintenance, break/fix bug remediation, enhancements and the need to perform research

To aid in troubleshooting software production errors assists in identifying alternate courses of action and performing root-cause analysis

Assists in the review and evaluation of software development methodologies

Contributes actively as part of a team on software development projects

Conducts testing, implementation and assists with documentation

Gathers, interprets and applies information from a variety of sources to aid in software development dutie

48 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 30 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 24 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
