Work Environment:
This is a remote, home-based position based in Ohio or Western Pennsylvania, but it is not a sit-behind-a-desk role. The position involves regular travel throughout the assigned territory. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, managing their schedule, and spending the majority of their time out in the field engaging with customers.

Position: Sales Executive – Builder Channel
We’re recruiting on behalf of a national flooring company for a high-potential individual to join their growing builder sales team. This is an ideal role for someone with strong sales instincts who is looking to break into or advance within the flooring or building materials industry. The position is designed as a development track, preparing the individual to eventually manage a dedicated sales territory within the homebuilder market.
In this structured, hands-on training program, you’ll work closely with experienced sales leaders and gain exposure to the builder sales process, key customer relationships, product knowledge, and strategic selling practices. You’ll then transition into full territory, managing your own builder accounts and contributing directly to company growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Learn and support the company’s sales strategy within the builder and contractor channels
• Partner with senior sales team members to assist with active accounts and business development efforts
• Participate in market visits, customer meetings, design center walk-throughs, and training sessions
• Gradually assume responsibility for account relationships, sales goals, and territory development
Additional Responsibilities:
• Shadow experienced sales executives to understand approaches within the builder channel
• Call on builders, contractors, and design centers to develop customer insights and build rapport
• Collaborate with other company sales reps and cross-functional teams to support account needs
• Assist in marketing initiatives, events, and product specifications for builder clients
• Contribute to targeting new opportunities and building long-term partnerships
• Help develop and execute quarterly sales plans aligned with broader company goals
• Build product knowledge across the full portfolio and stay informed on market trends
• Engage with stakeholders such as builders, designers, specifiers, and contractors
• Maintain accurate data in CRM/ERP systems and assist with tracking and reporting
• Complete assigned training milestones and demonstrate readiness for territory ownership
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Interest or experience in flooring, construction, or building materials is a plus
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers quickly
• Self-motivated, energetic, and eager to learn
• Willingness to travel for training and customer visits
• Familiarity with CRM/ERP systems is helpful but not required
• Comfort using Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems
• Understanding of pricing, customer buying behaviors, and sales fundamentals
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based and requires regular use of a laptop or desktop computer. The role may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, or using a computer and phone. Occasional travel may be required for customer visits, market meetings, or training sessions. Candidates should be comfortable with typical physical demands such as standing for long periods, walking, squatting, twisting, and performing tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Total Compensation:
Base + guaranteed commission
$75,000 - $80,000
