The Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Programs, Quality Improvement, is seeking a confident and analytical professional who demonstrates strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. Reporting to the Manager of Resident Services, the successful candidate will assist in the fulfillment of the Division’s commitment to ensuring quality services are provided to all children receiving residential group home services. Travel with the ability to work flexible hours is a requirement for this position.

As a Group Home Standards Consultant, you will:

Accurately interpret, apply and communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex legislation, policies, standards, and procedures to a variety of audiences.

Conduct on-site operational reviews of child and family group home services located in both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, which are licensed, contracted or operated under agreement with the Ministry, to assess compliance with provincial standards of care for residential services.

Prepare and present comprehensive written reports that outline findings and recommendations for improvement to a variety of audiences both within and external to the Ministry, ensuring a shared understanding is achieved, and risks and concerns are effectively mitigated.

Monitor the implementation of action plans and adherence to recommendations by conducting follow-up assessments to evaluate organizational progress.

Provide support, training, and direction to residential group homes on provincial policy and standard requirements.

Apply a collaborative approach that promotes teamwork within the Ministry and with external Ministry partners.

As our successful candidate, you will have:

Knowledge of The Child and Family Services Act, The Residential Services Act, The Residential Service Regulations and the Ministry’s Residential Services Manual, Youth Centred Services Manual and Children’s Services Manual to evaluate the application of legislation and associated policies in the delivery of services.

The ability to accurately reference, interpret, and apply relevant acts, regulations, policies, and standards.

The ability to clearly communicate complex legislation, policies, evaluation findings, and quality of care concerns in a manner that promotes understanding, encourages problem-solving, and positively influences improvements to practice.

Knowledge and demonstrate respect and understanding for multicultural beliefs, values, and perspectives with a particular emphasis on First Nations and Métis.

Knowledge of conflict resolution principles and ability to recognize, assess, and resolve conflict or stress-related situations involving clients and stakeholders.

The ability to accurately identify, collect, record and analyze relevant information through observation, interviews, audit and inquiry.

The ability to accurately and concisely compose technical written reports that present information in a manner that allows others to understand the reasons for decisions, recommendations, and the need for further action.

The ability to work independently and as a team member with other organizations, colleagues, individuals and communities to develop positive working relationships, support the delivery of services, address complaints and address client needs.

The ability to generate documents using a variety of software systems.

To qualify for this position, you will possess a degree in the Human Services field of study from an accredited university. Human Services education would include Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Sociology, Human Justice, Psychology, or a related area.
