The Production Operator (Process Expert) is responsible for the production of quality thermoplastic material which includes set-up, monitoring and troubleshooting equipment and packaging finished product.
Responsibilities
Sets up extruder to run a product within standard operating conditions with minimal downtime and loss of product.
Monitors and troubleshoots equipment during the extrusion process.
Collects product samples for testing.
If safety or quality issues develop, stops process and actively participates in problem-solving with shift supervisor, maintenance, safety and other operators.
Safely drives forklift.
Actively participates in cleaning work area.
Completes product turn-arounds, which includes cleaning the extruder barrel and screws, the feeder, the pelletizer, the classifier, the reclaimer system, the automatic bagger, and feed and product totes to prevent product contamination.
Maintains proper records, which includes run logs/sheet, feed blends on line, amount of product in totes, packaging reports, work orders, and log books.
Provides report to on-coming operator for successful shift hand-over.
Reviews and understands the policies and procedures contained in standard operating procedures, hazardous communication and waste disposal procedures.
Assumes personal responsibility for complying with all safety/health related policies and procedures, participates in company sponsored safety programs and activities, and reports to management those conditions or actions by employees or others that might create a hazard to themselves or others in the plant.
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets, work experience, and qualifications. The expected salary range for this Minnesota position is $25.23/hour.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Valid drivers license required
No experience required
Manufacturing experience preferred
Forklift experience preferred
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Availability to work 12-hour night shift schedule
3-4 shifts per week; overtime available
Includes holidays and every other weekend
Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to use various hand tools
Basic math knowledge including ability to calculate percentages, ratios, unit conversions and averages
Good verbal and written communication
Ability to work individually and within small group
