Job Overview:
This SME will provide technical expertise and leadership for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle-based database systems and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
This role involves managing complex database architecture, supporting the data warehouse, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, deploy, and troubleshoot end-to-end data solutions critical for audit, investigative, and operational functions.
The SME will contribute to continuous improvements in data integration, performance, and security.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration & ETL Solutions:
Manage and optimize Oracle database systems, ensuring high availability and performance for critical data systems.
Develop, implement, and automate ETL processes to integrate diverse data sources into the data warehouse efficiently.
Lead the configuration and maintenance of Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) and related Oracle Fusion Middleware components (OAM, OUD, BI Publisher).
Capacity Planning & Configuration:
Conduct capacity planning, installation, and setup for Oracle Enterprise Database Systems and related applications.
Configure and manage user accounts, monitor application/database performance, and generate reports for performance measurement.
SQL & Performance Tuning:
Provide expertise in SQL tuning and optimization, ensuring fast response times and efficient throughput.
Use advanced Oracle tools such as SQL*Loader, Data Pump, and PL/SQL to optimize ETL workflows and data loading processes.
Data Warehouse & Reporting:
Support data warehousing and archiving strategies, including the design for end-user access to data cubes and BI tools.
Maintain and develop automated data refresh processes for ODAS systems and BI Publisher reports.
System Security & Best Practices:
Ensure Oracle and Linux security, including Shell programming, TDE/Wallet, and Database Vault implementation.
Oversee secure transmission of data and compliance with encryption/decryption standards (e.g., PKI/GPG).
Team Collaboration & Guidance:
Coordinate with system administrators to deploy applications and ensure data integration across platforms.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff, ensuring adherence to best practices in database management and ETL processes.
Required Skills & Experience:
Technical Expertise:
Extensive experience with Oracle database tools, SQL*Loader, Data Pump, and advanced SQL programming (PL/SQL, Toad).
In-depth knowledge of Oracle tuning, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting techniques.
Proficiency in managing Oracle RAC, Oracle Fusion Middleware, and other relevant Oracle Cloud components.
ETL Process Knowledge:
Expertise in the full ETL lifecycle, including source data evaluation, encryption/decryption, data loading, and reconciliation.
Ability to automate and optimize ETL processes to ensure smooth, hands-off execution.
Security & Compliance:
Strong understanding of security principles, including data protection (TDE/Wallet) and secure data transmission (SFTP, VPN).
Knowledge of security clearance requirements, including compliance with T4 High-Risk Public Trust protocols.
Project Management & Communication:
Experience in SDLC processes, including requirement gathering, system design, integration testing, and documentation.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
6–10 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on Oracle systems and ETL processes.
