About Munro Defense

Munro Defense applies Lean Design, DFM/DFA, and advanced engineering benchmarking to help government and defense clients modernize complex, large-scale systems-especially those involving maritime platforms and integrated mechanical systems. Our focus is on delivering significant cost reductions and design efficiencies through digital engineering and lifecycle optimization.

We're seeking a Project Manager to help lead a high-priority, multi-phase effort to improve the performance, affordability, and design agility of next-generation maritime systems.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Project Manager will coordinate daily activities across a cross-functional team working on the digital optimization and lean redesign of maritime platforms and systems. This includes overseeing project schedules, facilitating technical team collaboration, tracking deliverables, and maintaining alignment with customer expectations in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, technically fluent project coordinator who is ready to step into a larger leadership role supporting highly visible defense modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Program Manager in leading a multidisciplinary team focused on Lean system design, CAD/PLM integration, and cost-reduction initiatives in maritime-focused engineering

Manage detailed project schedules, staffing plans, and milestone tracking using PM tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or similar)

Coordinate technical meetings, manage action item follow-ups, and maintain strong communication among engineering, integration, and stakeholder teams

Prepare and deliver project status updates, risk briefings, and internal/external reviews

Ensure deliverables meet quality and technical standards while aligning with contractual requirements

Facilitate collaboration among mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers working on hull, power, propulsion, and control subsystems

Identify potential schedule risks or technical gaps and escalate them appropriately

Help implement continuous improvement processes and maintain documentation integrity across systems Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business, or related field

3-6 years of experience in technical project coordination, preferably in maritime, shipbuilding, or defense system environments

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, capable of managing cross-functional teams

Familiarity with complex acquisition programs, system integration workflows, or digital transformation in government contracting

Proficiency with project tracking platforms (e.g., MS Project, Confluence, SharePoint)

U.S. Citizenship required

Active DoD clearance preferred; must be eligible to obtain one

Willingness to travel up to 25% Preferred Qualifications

PMP or CAPM certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)

Experience supporting government or defense-related engineering programs, particularly in maritime or mechanical system domains

Working knowledge of Lean product development, systems lifecycle management, or CAD/PLM workflows

Able to thrive in a fast-paced, structured environment with high levels of visibility and accountability Benefits Overview:

Competitive compensation and benefits

Paid time off including vacation days and holidays

Healthcare, dental, vision, and life insurance plans
