Position: Simulation Technician

Classification: Professional Support A

Department: Nursing

Report to: Nursing & Healthcare Simulation Manager

General Job Summary:

This is a part-time position (27.5 hours/week) located on the Emmetsburg Campus. Under limited direction, the Simulation Technician is responsible for the overall usage, maintenance, and upkeep of the medical, simulation, and audio-visual equipment for the Simulation Center. Will work with the Nursing and Healthcare Simulation Manager in providing technical support for simulation activities, labs, and exercises. Will facilitate simulation and use of simulators by programming and running simulations for Nursing, Health Science faculty, and Allied Health programs.

% of TIME Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Constant

(67-100%)

Order and maintain all equipment and supplies relating to audio/visual and simulation equipment.

Facilitate and conduct orientation and pre-testing of simulation attendees.

Ensure simulators, computers, and audio/visual equipment is ready and in working order for Simulation Center faculty.

Frequent

(34-66%)

Maintenance and repair of audio/visual equipment, medical equipment, manikins, and simulation equipment.

Restock rooms and clean simulation equipment after each scenario session.

Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed during simulation sessions.

Work collaboratively with faculty and staff from Nursing and Allied Health education programs to develop, administer, and evaluate simulation within the disciplines and across the curriculum.

Assist Simulation Manager with developing and implementing simulation scenarios, technology, and solutions for healthcare partners.

Occasional

Attend departmental meetings when requested.

Knowledge of current simulation hardware and software.

Knowledge of current practices and other related health areas required.

Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and educational media equipment.

Special Demands:

Position involves sitting most of the time in an office setting. Standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping occasionally (10-33%). Reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work frequently (34-66%). Sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking, hearing constantly (67-100%).

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current license or certification in an allied health care field required. Two years’ experience in a health care-related field preferred. Demonstrated experience with computer applications and ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues preferred.

Salary: $22.25 per hour
