The Manager of Infrastructure - Citrix & Virtualization is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of technical engineers focused on application virtualization and Citrix technologies within a large enterprise IT environment. This position leads infrastructure planning, supports critical virtualization initiatives, and drives continuous improvement and modernization-including a major migration from on-premises Citrix to Azure Virtual Desktop.

This role is 100% remote, with eligibility limited to specific states (see below). The ideal candidate brings extensive Citrix experience, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record in managing distributed teams and complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of engineers specializing in Citrix and virtualization technologies.

Recruit top talent, conduct regular performance evaluations, and foster a high-performance culture.

Promote collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.

Infrastructure Planning & Implementation

Set and execute short- and long-term infrastructure strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Lead key projects including migrating Citrix from on-premises to Azure, and deploying Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).

Optimize infrastructure for scalability, availability, and performance in a remote-first environment.

Policies, Procedures, & Performance Monitoring

Establish and enforce infrastructure policies, procedures, and KPIs.

Monitor Citrix systems and virtual desktop performance to ensure uptime, security, and end-user satisfaction.

Implement best practices for managing a highly reliable, mission-critical virtual environment.

Technical Issue Resolution & Support

Oversee the resolution of complex technical challenges related to virtualization and remote access systems.

Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and implement sustainable solutions. Provide strategic input on tools, platforms, and system upgrades to support scalability and modernization.

Strategic Initiatives & Collaboration

Partner with IT leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align infrastructure strategies with business priorities.

Drive user experience improvements and optimization of the virtual desktop environment.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, licensing, and internal standards.

Current & Future Initiatives:

Migration of Citrix environment from on-prem to Azure

Deployment and integration of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)

Major optimization efforts to improve end-user experience and performance

Implementation of modern infrastructure tools to support agility and efficiency

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

Bachelor's Degree & Minimum 7 years of IT experience with a strong focus on Citrix infrastructure and virtualization.

Proven experience leading or managing a Citrix-focused engineering team, preferably in a remote environment.

Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical, geographically dispersed systems.

Technical Skills:

Deep understanding of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, cloud-based virtualization, and Azure technologies.

Strong grasp of enterprise infrastructure, networking, and security best practices.

Proficiency with automation, configuration management, and monitoring tools.

Leadership:

Excellent team building, mentorship, and communication skills.

Demonstrated success in project leadership and organizational alignment.
