Our National Civil Business specialises in Infrastructure Construction. We are currently delivering projects ranging from Bridges, Precast, Piling, Wharves, Water Treatment Plants, Storage Tanks and Pipelines.

We're now looking for a driven and ambitious Management Accountant looking for the perfect opportunity to take on a new challenge and grow their career with us in Tauranga

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you’ll assist with the day-to-day accounting and reporting functions for the region. With a focus on succession, you will be part of a successful, results focused team who lift each other to meet goals and targets.

You will demonstrate your ability to use your initiative and confidence in establishing systems and procedures, strong knowledge of general accounting functions and good leadership skills.

In addition to the above you will:

Monitor, review and report on monthly financial performance

Produce accurate operational and capital budgets as well as forecasts alongside the Managers

Maintain accuracy of job costing

Prepare Financial Reporting and other ad hoc reports in a clear and timely manner, including Profit & Loss, reconciliations and investigation, forecasts and other comparative reporting requirements

Provide leadership, support and guidance to the wider Administration and Civil team

Ensuring the operational team’s administrative needs are met

Involvement in the Year End process

Providing relevant data analysis and interpretation to engineers and management staff

To promote and improve accounting, financial and administrative efficiencies

Proactively deliver training to management, engineers, and contracting staff on all management reports and business tools

Special projects and assignments as directed by management

Involvement in JV & Alliances across NZ

Lead improvements and initiatives to enable efficient and effective processes, systems and procedures

We’re looking for someone with:

An appropriate tertiary qualification, and holding your CA/CPA or working towards this is favourable

Minimum 3 years of experience in an accountancy role

Exposure to JDE is an advantage, but not essential

Ability to analyse business needs and to recommend opportunities for process improvement

Ability to learn new systems, software and procedures quickly and thoroughly

Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Advanced level Word, Excel and computing skills

Ability to work autonomously while handling multiple tasks with changing priorities and deadlines

High numerical competence and organisational skills

High level of written and verbal communication skills

Proactive, organised and hands on approach with the ability to work well as a team and on own initiative
