Schedule: Full-time

What you'll do:

Performs daily operational health checks and maintenance of the enterprise backup environment:

Performs daily health checks of enterprise backup environment infrastructure, including server hardware and OS, backup data storage pools, and backup solution applications.

Review daily backup failure reports and work with Server and Application team members to remediate*.

Work with Server and Application team members to install new IBM Spectrum Protect clients*.

Work with Server and Application team members to coordinate IBM Spectrum Protect client upgrades*.

Work with Server and Application teams to process server decommission requests received via ServiceNow*.

Assist with Spectrum Protect client migrations as part of IBM Spectrum Protect server hardware refresh*.

Client Operating systems include but are not limited to MS Windows, Red Hat Linux, and IBM AIX. Client applications include but are not limited to MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, and VMware.

Develops architectural strategies and contributes to long-term vision:

Identifies architectural gaps and future architectural needs to ensure a robust backup and recovery strategy.

Participates in active testing of existing and new backup strategies to ensure success

Skill development in Enterprise Backup and Server technologies:

Build skills in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift.**

Build skills in File and Object storage.**

Minimum Qualifications:

60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
