Job Summary:
It is the responsibility of the Assembly Technician to build and troubleshoot highly technical automated packaging machinery in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team is critical to success in this role.
Job Duties:
Fit and assemble and wire a variety of machines, assemblies and sub-assemblies per specifications and tolerances determined by engineering drawings. Parts and assemblies may require close tolerances with fitting, drilling and reaming being an essential function of the assembler.
Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics and mechanical drawings. Must have the capability to troubleshoot all aspects of problems related to electrical wiring.
Must be willing to pick, check and inspect parts from the stockroom, reporting any discrepancies to management.
All completed machines, assemblies or sub-assemblies must be tested and run where applicable to ensure they meet all tolerances and specifications. Troubleshoot, repair, rework or rebuild as required to meet specifications.
Assist customer testing on machines and perform demonstrations as required.
Prepare machines and assemblies for shipment to customer. Uncrate received machines and assemblies when needed.
Report to management all part and design errors that occur to see if modifications are needed. Work closely with Engineering to correct and enhance machine designs.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Follow processes and procedures.
Stay compliant with all corporate policies and procedures.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
Ability to supply their own tools.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong time management and prioritization skills.
Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.
Education/ Experience:
Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity to use a variety of hand tools.
Ability to work under and inside of machinery
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Able to hear and speak clearly in person and over the phone.
Must be able to work required overtime.
Ability to travel to customer sites for installations and services issues if needed. Estimated travel is 25% to 50% of the time.
