Grants and Contracts Management Analyst

Department:

Engineering Research Administration

This position manages all sponsored research activities including pre and post awards for a subset of assigned Engineering department(s) and/or Research Centers; oversees external research funding and provides support to Principal Investigators (PIs); this position reports to the Engineering Sponsored Programs Services Director and will have a dotted report line to assigned unit’s staff leadership position; to accomplish Engineering and unit goals, this position works closely with the unit finance team to maintain compliance with fiscal and human resource controls; serves as liaison between faculty, research groups and various constituents, including, but not limited to the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Office of Research (OR) and unit administrative staff; acquires program guidelines, forms and relevant information; initiates, calculates, and review grant budgets with individual Principal Investigators; administers and monitors the expenditures of funded research grants including coordination of personnel appointments, personnel expenditure transfers, procurement, travel, cost sharing, etc. with unit staff and internal/external partners; initiates, reconciles and resolves issues with financial discrepancies, procurement, journal entries and general ledger transactions related to grants; resolves contractual issues with PIs, ESPS and OSP; audits research grant expenditures to ensure appropriate compliance and cost sharing commitments are met; works with and prepares reports in university systems and databases as needed; provides comprehensive information on policies, procedures, and programs to unit personnel; ensures compliance with University, College, unit and OR policies and procedures are followed and all supporting documentation conforms to University guidelines; accountable to Cost Center Managers for units to ensure fiscal policy compliance; perform other duties and special projects assigned as deemed necessary by the management; and serves as back-up to other COE grant management staff as needed.

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the field.

Additional Education

Desired: Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience Required:

4 years of financial or grants management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proficient in the use of MS Office applications; excellent data analysis skills including the mastery of spreadsheet and data analysis tools; must have effective written and verbal communication skills.

The target hiring range for this job profile is $70,100- $91,600. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
