Qualifications
Highly recommended:
Proven experience as a Solaris System Engineer (5+ years preferred).
Proven experience with Veritas Infoscale.

Proficiency in Unix operating systems (Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and Linux variants).
Strong command-line and shell scripting skills (Bash, Korn, Perl, Python).
Strong Web Development Skills using modern Web Technologies (HTML, CSS, JS etc)
Experience with system performance tuning, patching, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of file systems (ZFS, VXFS, ASM) and volume management.
Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc).
Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, SSH, Rsync).
Experience with backup and recovery tools (Netbackup, HUR, ZFS, Veritas etc)
Basic RDBMS skill (Oracle, MySQL)
Knowledge of virtualization and containerization (Zones, LDOMs, VMware, Docker).
Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, AppDynamics, Prometheus).
Good understanding of Web Servers, IIS and Web Site setup and configuration (advantageous)
Experience in Cross Platform integration with other Operating Systems and Technologies (Windows, Linux)

Experience with Oracle hardware (SPARC servers, etc.).
Exposure to other Unix/Linux systems (AIX, RHEL, etc.).

Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Solaris operating systems (Solaris 11) and associated hardware.
Gather and address technical and design requirements.
Design and maintain technical system requirements based on business needs.
Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning.
Manage system security, including patching, hardening, and compliance with security policies.
Perform system backups, disaster recovery planning, and regular testing of recovery procedures.
Automate routine tasks using shell scripts and configuration management tools.
Maintain and troubleshoot Solaris service domains, Zones, ZFS file systems, Veritas InfoScale and SMF services.
Provide 24/7 support for production systems
Collaborate with application, network, and database teams to support deployments and resolve issues.
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, incident and root cause analysis reports.
Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and hardware refreshes.
Understand storage devices and SAN/NAS environments integrated with Solaris systems.
Monitor and respond to alerts from system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, AppDynamics, or similar).
Analyze system trends and usage metrics to support capacity planning and strategic decision-making.
Generate regular system health and performance reports for IT leadership and stakeholders.
Create dashboards and visualizations to present system uptime, resource utilization, and SLA compliance.
Participate in audits and ensure compliance with internal and external IT standard
