The Data Analytics Team within the Department of Finance’s Financial Reporting & Control Division (FRC) is seeking a qualified candidate with accounting information systems and accounting experience to lead our Data Analytics Team. This team ensures data quality of the County’s financial transactions by reviewing system processes to ensure the financial system (the system) is functioning properly, monitoring and testing reports to ensure they are accurately produced, supporting staff, and troubleshooting and resolving data issues. The team members are subject matter experts on how transactions travel through our financial system to ensure the transaction is being recorded in compliance with accounting standards and in the proper periods, data mining financial data to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions, teach others about how the system works, and performing analysis to ensure financial data is correct between modules. This candidate must be comfortable working with large data sets and working efficiently to figure out issues. About This Role:

Supervise team members by prioritizing and assigning work, conduct performance evaluations, mentoring staff, ensuring that the team follows policies and procedures.

Oversee, manage, and review the Budgetary Control & Encumbrance Accounting (BCEA) module to General Ledger reconciliations to ensure they stay in sync, identify any issues, and derive a solution or work with our Financial Systems team to update the system or report.

Oversee, manage, and review analysis of recurring system processes to ensure that they are operating properly and recording financial transactions properly, such as the monthly receipt accounting accrual and year-end carryforward process of remaining balances of Purchase Orders.

Develop other strategies to ensure financial transactions are being recorded properly as they travel through the subledgers/other modules to the General Ledger.

Create job aids and conduct training to teach others how the financial system works.

Help troubleshoot issues reported by customers, determine what is occurring, and how to fix it.

Oversee, manage, and review analysis of encumbrances to ensure encumbrances are accurately presented and review correcting entries.

Assist with testing new financial reports in the system, providing detailed feedback, and working with the Financial Systems team to finalize the report.

Encourage working in collaborative environment within the other FRC Teams and in the County’s other departments and agencies.

Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 7 years of experience in accounting and/or accounting information systems.

Preferences:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration.

Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud’s financial system is preferred.

Some experience with working in state and/or local government accounting is preferred.

3 years supervisory experience that includes managing 3 or more employees

Ability to work effectively with people of differing backgrounds and experience who may not have a thorough knowledge of accounting and how financial systems work.

Some experience developing ad-hoc reports, analyzing large volumes of data, and analyzing how transactions flow through a financial system.

Experience training accountants and non-accountants preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft suite products, such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; Microsoft 365 products, such as, OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams; and other applications.

Must have strong interpersonal skills and communication to consistently deliver high quality work in a professional manner.

Work Schedule:

Must work business hours Monday-Friday at a minimum. Overtime hours may be required to meet deadlines during busy seasons and to meet deadlines outside of busy season as necessary. This is a telework eligible role that may revert to full-time or part-time in-office scheduling if business needs change. Currently, FRC is 95% telework/5% on site (at least 1 day a quarter). Employees may be asked to come on site more frequently as needs arise and at any time. We try to give advanced notice when needs change but are not always able to.

Starting Salary Range: $91,162.50 – $121,836.00
