Job Description
The CPAP Specialist is responsible for processing orders for PAP (Positive Airway Pressure) equipment and supplies, scheduling patient service appointments, and performing equipment setups. This role also involves patient education on proper equipment usage and maintenance, ensuring compliance with insurance and medical necessity guidelines.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
Prior customer service experience preferred
Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) is a plus
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
High-level customer service skills
Computer proficiency applicable to job responsibilities
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit and use hands to handle or feel objects
Regularly required to talk, hear, and see
May be required to stand and bend for certain tasks
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Process PAP equipment/supply orders via mail, fax, phone, or in person
Schedule equipment delivery and set-up appointments based on patient needs
Collect and verify insurance information for third-party billing
Communicate with referral sources and sleep labs to obtain necessary documentation
Ensure compliance with medical necessity guidelines prior to equipment dispensing
Perform CPAP/BIPAP setups and train patients on usage and safety
Educate patients on infection control and equipment maintenance
Explain insurance coverage and compliance requirements for continued coverage
Maintain accurate logs and records for monthly PAP setups
Stay informed on the company’s PAP equipment and supplies to effectively meet patient needs
Address and resolve customer complaints; escalate when necessary
Participate in training sessions at both branch and corporate levels
Monitor inventory and assist with reordering equipment and supplies as needed
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and objectives to support organizational goals
