HECO PACIFIC Manufacturing, Inc. is engineering and manufacturing company located in Union City, CA, we build overhead bridge cranes from Ton to 300 Ton capacities.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing mechanical and structural drafting and engineering functions while ensuring compliance with NQA-1 and NOG-1 standards. This role involves leading a team of drafters and engineers, managing projects, and ensuring that fabricated equipment meets quality assurance standards.

1. JOB REQUIREMENTS

1.1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering.

1.2. At least 3 years of experience in overhead crane manufacturing.

1.3. Knowledge of NQA-1 and NOG-1 compliance and requirements (preferred).

1.4. Strong leadership and organizational skills.

1.5. Proficiency in project management and working with diverse teams.

1.6. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

1.7. Five (5) year experience with AutoCAD or certification equivalent

1.8. One (1) year experience in the fabrication industry and/or machine design preferred

1.9. Understanding of layer control and CAD templates

1.10. Demonstrated ability to make good decisions for cost effective manufacturing

1.11. Model control: Understand and ability to maneuver models efficiently without error

1.12. Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships at all levels

1.13. Receptive to learn and advance in knowledge through critical feedback

1.14. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

2. WORKING CONDITION

2.1. Environment: Primarily managing engineers, procurement and production, including fabrication shops, assembly areas, and testing facilities. Occasional field visits for installations may be required especially highly sensitive projects.

2.2. Physical Requirements: Ability to analyze drawings and materials required, oversee production activities and deadlines, oversee machinery maintenance.

2.3. Schedule: Full-time with flexibility to meet production deadlines, including occasional weekends or extended hours as necessary.

3. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION & PRINCIPAL DUTIES

3.1. Essential Functions:

3.2. Leadership & Management: Supervise and guide mechanical and structural drafters/engineers, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

3.3. Project Oversight: Manage engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budget adherence, and compliance.

3.4. Quality Assurance: Ensure fabricated equipment meets NQA-1 and NOG-1 compliance, working closely with quality assurance teams.

3.5. Process Improvement: Develop and improve CAD templates, drafting processes, and engineering workflows.

3.6. Collaboration: Work proactively with assemblers, machinists, procurement teams, and project managers.

3.7. Technical Expertise: Lead the drafting and modeling of machinery and structural components, ensuring accuracy and usability.

3.8. Problem-Solving: Identify errors in designs, provide solutions, and implement corrective actions.

3.9. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry best practices, equipment, and regulatory requirements.

3.10. Oversee and manage a team of mechanical and structural drafters/engineers.

3.11. Expert in 2D AutoCAD, layer control, blue beam, and plot style management.

3.12. Turn engineering models into burn patterns, machine, fabrication, and assembly drawings.

3.13. Ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and easy to follow.

3.14. Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and other departments to ensure smooth production.

3.15. Provide recommendations for process and design improvements.

3.16. Ensure proper documentation and organization of engineering files.

3.17. Oversee project development at different stages and manage deliverables effectively.

3.18. Conduct quality assurance checks on fabricated equipment to ensure compliance.

3.19. Manage engineering workflows to align with NQA-1 and NOG-1 requirements.

3.20. Assist in procurement processes by ensuring accurate and detailed Bill of Materials

4. MEASURE OF PERFORMANCE

4.1. Production Efficiency:

Meeting or exceeding project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

Minimizing downtime and waste during fabrication and assembly processes.

Maintain order and discipline at the shop, ensure all tools are stored back to its original station.

4.2. Quality Standards:

Percentage of products passing initial quality control checks without rework.

Customer satisfaction ratings for delivered and installed cranes.

4.3. Team Management:

Employee productivity and retention rates.

Successful implementation of training programs and measurable skill improvement among staff.

4.4. Cost Management:

Maintaining or reducing production costs while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Effectiveness in identifying and implementing process improvements.
