New York City Ballet is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) with deep experience managing on-premises database environments. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of NYCB’s Tessitura CRM system and supporting SQL Server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in on-prem server management, data integrity, and performance tuning, with a proactive approach to supporting mission-critical systems across ticketing, fundraising, marketing, and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and maintain the on-premises Tessitura CRM database, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and performance.

Manage and support on-prem SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.

Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource management.

Develop and maintain stored procedures, views, and complex SQL queries to support business operations.

Implement and manage on-prem backup and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring data resilience and business continuity.

Ensure database security through access controls, encryption, and compliance with internal policies.

Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to support integrations and deployments.

Maintain detailed documentation of database architecture, processes, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in database administration, with a focus on on-premises environments.

Proven experience managing CRM systems—Tessitura preferred, but experience with other CRM platforms is welcome.

Advanced proficiency in SQL (T-SQL or ANSI SQL), with a strong background in performance tuning and query optimization.

Solid understanding of on-prem server infrastructure, including storage, networking, and security.

Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning in an on-prem context.

Hands-on experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for database administration and query development.

Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for building and managing reports.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a collaborative and proactive mindset.
