Position Summary
The Molding Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting injection molding improvements through adherence to established product design, scientific injection molding process, tooling, resin, and equipment. The key responsibility of this position is to troubleshoot the injection molding process while following standard practices, procedure & guidance from other personnel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate and troubleshoot molding machinery and processes based on scientific injection molding principles
Support Molding Engineering activities such as scientific injection molding process development, process monitoring, and tool qualifications
Support project timelines for Validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) activities
Close coordination within the resources assigned to the product family (Tool room, Molding Engineering, Quality Engineering)
Report and document writing (Validations, EWO’s, Deviations, Change Requests, etc.)
Assist with the selection of new and existing molding equipment, tooling, and materials
Provide system support, documentation and implementation - Set Ups, Process Technicians, Quality, and Planning
Work on special assignments as they arise
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of strength of materials, automation, thermoplastic and LSR injection molding, part assembly, fixturing, testing, and process control techniques
High level of attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
Education and Experience
High School diploma required; Associate’s degree from an accredited college is preferred
Scientific Injection Molding training or certification required
Understand the model: process, tooling, part design, materials, and equipment
Previous experience in hands on manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Work may be performed in a clean room environment
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time
Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
