Teaching Assistant for BEAR Transition Academy

Granby Public Schools is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to work in our BEAR Transition Academy as a Special Education Teaching Assistant.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Report to the Special Education Teacher and Transition Coordinator

Serve as a job coach supporting students with vocational and adaptive living skills

Support and supervise students (18 to 22 year olds) individually and/or in small groups in the classroom and in community vocational work sites

Under the direction of the Special Education / Transition Coordinator, implement and support student needs within the community and daily functional living skills

Teach and continually evaluate student skills and abilities at work sites and assist with appropriate learning strategies when necessary

Consistently work to improve student independence

Maintain progress notes and assess level of performance both in the community, work site and/or classroom

Maintain strict confidentiality at all times

The BEAR Academy is located inside the Farmington Valley YMCA. Hours will be 7:30 am - 2:30 pm, rate of pay is $24.11/hour.
