The Network Domain Architect plays a critical role in supporting the infrastructure and application delivery lifecycles for a large healthcare organization. This includes detailed design, integration, maintenance, and upgrades of network hardware, software, and standards across both on-premises and cloud environments.
This role ensures the integrity, security, and performance of the network infrastructure, which is essential to supporting clinical operations, patient care systems, and enterprise applications. The Network Solutions Architect evaluates project requirements and solution designs to ensure they are technically sound, secure, and aligned with healthcare compliance standards and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design scalable, secure, and high-performance network solutions that align with the healthcare organization's strategic goals.
- Architect LANs, WANs, data center networks, wireless networks, and hybrid cloud networks. Maintain detailed documentation of network flows, configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
- Select and implement appropriate networking protocols and technologies, including routing (e.g., OSPF, BGP), switching (e.g., VLANs, STP), and hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
- Apply network security best practices, including segmentation, ACLs, encryption, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and policy enforcement, with a focus on protecting sensitive healthcare data.
- Integrate network infrastructure with other IT systems such as servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and cloud services to support clinical and operational workflows.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Drive efficiency through network automation using vendor APIs and custom scripting to reduce manual tasks and improve reliability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, systems analysis, or a related field---or equivalent experience.
- At least six years of experience in IT design and implementation, with deep expertise in infrastructure, network design, and security.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and project management principles, with the ability to support agile teams and assess technical risks and opportunities.
- Experience presenting technical solutions to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with healthcare IT environments and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA) is a plus.
- Proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and business stakeholders to deliver secure and reliable network solutions.
