Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Temporary Purchasing Specialist for 3 -6 months to support our proposal and estimating teams by sourcing and quoting materials for bid submissions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective material pricing for proposals in response to RFPs, RFQs, and other project opportunities. The ideal candidate has strong vendor management skills, experience in material procurement, and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Request & Evaluate Quotes: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers for materials and services required for project bids.
Bid Support: Work closely with estimators, project managers, and proposal teams to understand material requirements and timelines.
Cost Analysis: Analyze supplier quotes for accuracy, pricing competitiveness, lead time, and compliance with specifications.
Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure responsive communication and favorable pricing.
Data Management: Maintain accurate records of quotes, vendor contacts, and historical pricing for use in future bids and procurement efforts.
Follow-up & Coordination: Ensure timely follow-up with vendors and internal stakeholders to meet bid deadlines.
Compliance: Ensure that all materials quoted comply with industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced supplier performance.Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or estimating support, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or engineering environments.Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of material sourcing and vendor negotiation.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and material lists.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and purchasing or ERP software (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle).
Ability to manage multiple quotes and deadlines simultaneously.Working Conditions
Remote position travel to supplier locations or project sites, as needed.
