Job Summary:
The CNC Machinist/Programmer will provide technical leadership and expertise to support CNC machining operations. This role will involve CAM programming, CNC machine set-up, fixture design (potentially), automation integration, and G-code programming to enhance production efficiency and ensure quality output.
Key Responsibilities:
CAM Programming & G-Code Development:
Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software for various machining operations.
Write, edit, and optimize G-code programs directly to ensure precise control of CNC machine operations, toolpaths, and cutting processes.
Ensure efficient toolpaths, cycle times, and part quality, minimizing waste and maximizing machine uptime.
CNC Machine Set-Up:
Oversee and support the setup of CNC machines, ensuring the proper tooling, fixturing, and parameters are in place for production runs.
Train and assist machine operators with best practices for set-up, G-code understanding, and troubleshooting during machine operation.
Continuously improve set-up procedures to reduce changeover times and increase throughput.
Fixture Design & Automation Integration (PREFERRED):
Design and develop custom fixtures and tooling for CNC operations to ensure precision, repeatability, and efficiency.
Lead the integration of automation solutions, such as robotic loading/unloading, to enhance machining operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and process improvements for increased productivity and safety.
Process Improvement:
Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement.
Provide technical support to resolve production issues and optimize machine performance, including G-code troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
5+ Years of advanced CNC Machining experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining, including hands-on CAM programming, G-code development, and machine setup.
Strong knowledge of CNC machines, G-code, cutting tools, and machining processes (milling & turning).
Preferred experience with automation systems and robotic integration.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Fusion, SolidWorks) and CNC control systems (Fanuc).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
