Mainframe Technical Lead (Hybrid in Chicago)

Job Summary:

Dexian is seeking a Mainframe Technical Lead (Hybrid in Chicago) for an opportunity with a client located in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:

Leading and mentoring a team of mainframe developers, including COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL, and CICS developers

Managing the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment

Providing technical solutions, performing code reviews, enforcing coding standards, and ensuring the quality of deliverables

Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to mainframe applications

Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and designing technical solutions

Keeping abreast of industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements and innovative solutions

Identifying opportunities to improve the software development process and team productivity

Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including functional and technical specifications

Working with other teams, such as business analysts and QA, to deliver successful projects

Identifying and mitigating technical risks

Providing guidance and support to other team members

Conducting code reviews to ensure adherence to standards and best practices

Optimizing mainframe systems for performance and efficiency

Providing support for testing efforts, including defect resolution

Participating in release management activities

Understanding the business needs and how mainframe applications support those needs

Requirements:

Designing DB2 batch programs, SQL Stored procedures

Re-engineering existing Assembler modules and modernizing them

Will be migrating Assembler to modern application and this will be a hands-on role

Recent SQL, DB2 and Assembler are top skills needed

Hybrid 3X/week in Chicago

6 month contract to hire
