PARALEGAL
Hawryluk Advisors has been retained exclusively by Aramco Services Company (“ASC” or “Aramco Americas”), the Houston-based wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, the world's largest integrated oil, natural gas, and petrochemicals company, to find a 5+ year paralegal with a background in commercial transactions for its Law Department in Houston, Texas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Law Department at ASC is responsible for providing legal counsel and advisory services to Saudi Aramco’s US-based business units, subsidiaries, and joint ventures.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel or Associate General Counsel of ASC, this paralegal’s responsibilities will include providing paralegal and administrative support to attorneys in the Law Department with a focus on contract management, regulatory compliance, corporate governance matters, and litigation support.
As an important member of the legal team, this paralegal will:
Draft, review, and organize legal documents including contracts, correspondence, and memoranda;
Conduct legal research and compile data from legal references and other resources;
Assist attorneys in preparing for meetings and presentations;
Maintain legal files and document management systems;
Coordinate with internal departments and external counsel on legal matters;
Support compliance and regulatory filings, and;
Perform other duties and participate in special projects.
Each professional in the Law Department of Aramco Services Company has broad responsibility and autonomy over their day-to-day practice.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
At least 5 years of practice with a large law firm or company, preferably in the oil and gas or energy sector;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies or a related field;
Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program preferred;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and;
Ability to comprehend and communicate accurately, clearly, and concisely in English.
Strong preference for Houston-based candidates.
The successful candidate also must have the ability to:
Analyze applicable law, case law, and industry standards;
Demonstrate competence in applying legal skills in connection with structuring, negotiating, and drafting basic corporate legal documents and transactions typical for a global oil and gas company;
Demonstrate organizational, planning, and priority-setting skills, and show flexibility when work assignments or priorities change;
Work with minimal supervision;
Show excellent writing and oral advocacy skills;
Partner with senior leadership, business, and legal colleagues to achieve the company’s business objectives while guarding against legal exposure.
