Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
With guidance and support from the Transportation Manager, the associate will ensure successful, timely deliveries and pickups on a daily basis, in accordance with Established Procedures for retail stores, food drives, agency orders, and other associated El Pasoans Fighting Hunger programs including CSFP and NSLP Programs, while ensuring being compliant with USDOT, FMCSA, and TxDOT, safety, security, regulatory and company policies. Must be willing to drive local and long distance.
MAJOR DUTIES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include, but are not limited to the following:
Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle
Drive straight and combination vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
Assist in loading delivery trucks
Ensure contents are properly secured in truck prevent damage/injury
Obtain signatures to confirm and complete pickups and deliveries
Assist in mapping driving routes
Stay on predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery
Communicate with dispatch as needed
Confirm that the contents of each shipment / load matches the manifest document
Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip & report any problems immediately
Check weather conditions and road reports before departure and as necessary en-route
Always ensure your vehicle and trailer is kept clean
Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, add lubricants and oils, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery / pickup issues encountered
Follow DOT rules and regulations concerning Work, Drive, and Rest times
Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
Track and report working hours
Adhere to company rules and regulations
Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
Comply with USDA, FMCSA, TxDOT and interstate regulations
Deliver & unload trucks to agencies on schedule;
Pick up donated products as scheduled;
Maintain proper paperwork for all orders;
Drive forklift in a safe manner at all times;
Use manual or electric pallet jack when needed;
Make safety a priority at all times

Position Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving; Comfortable with city, regional, and long haul transport
Certificates, Licenses or Registrations:
Valid CDL-A required, current medical card and clean driving record.
ServSafe Manager Certification (required after hire)
Forklift Certification (required after hire)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects and consistently meet deadlines;
Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
Map reading and route planning experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy;
Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
Alert, focused, and detail oriented
Ability to appropriately interact with people while maintaining excellent customer service;
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly during the day;
Available to work occasional evenings and/or weekends;
Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing priorities;
Ability to work effectively under periodically stressful conditions;
Good problem-solving skills;
Self motivated with the ability to interact in a team environment;
Positive and professional attitude and demeanor;
Ability to pass a background check;
Ability to pass random drug testing.
